HEALTHY ADULTS NEEDED FOR OCCUPATIONAL HEAT STRESS STUDY

Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: job | stress | renal | Healthy | heat | dehydration | hydration | occupational | kidney
  • Age: Between 18 - 44 Years
  • Gender: Male or Female
Eligibility Criteria:
Inclusion Criteria
  • Adults ages 18-44
  • If female, must not be pregnant or breast-feeding
  • Body mass index <35.0 kg/m^2
  • Must be physically active and in good overall health
  • Must be willing to travel to IU Bloomington campus for study visits
 
Exclusion Criteria
  • Current or history of any renal disease, heart disease, stroke, immune or autoimmune disease, and/or gastrointestinal disease/surgery
  • Body mass index >35.0 kg/m^2
  • Hypertension during screening
  • Using medications that blunt the physiological response to exercise (e.g., beta blockers)
  • Prescription medication with a known side effect of impaired temperature regulation or fluid balance (e.g., diuretics)
  • Positive pregnancy test at any time during the study or breast feeding
  • Current tobacco or electronic cigarette use or consistent use within the last 2 years
  • Inability to safely complete the peak oxygen uptake test
