Overview

Study Purpose
Researchers at Indiana University want to know more about how one-on-one exercise with a trainer can impact the short and long-term health outcomes in adolescent and young adult cancer survivors. The purpose of this study is to better understand whether or not adolescent and young adult cancer survivors can complete an wellness program after treatment and whether or not that program may impact cardiovascular strength and balance.

Description

 Who Is Eligible
  • Ages 15-39 years old
  • Have completed chemotherapy treatment more than 3months ago, or on continued maintenance therapy
  • Are currently participating in less than 90 minutes of physically activity a week
  • Must have access to or own a smartphone, tablet or computer with camera and data, and/or internet capabilities.
What Is Involved
For this study, you will be randomly placed, like the flip of a coin, into one of two groups: an exercise training group or a wellness coaching group:
  • Complete 3 one-hour online assessments
  • Wear a study-provided FItBit while you're participating
  • Persons randomized to the Exercise Training Group - complete 3 one-hour guided exercise sessions per week for 12-weeks (online via Zoom)
  • Persons randomized to the Wellness Coaching Group - complete 3 hours of wellness coaching sessions per week for 12 weeks (online via Zoom)
You will receive 1:1 training sessions with a personal trainer or lifestyle coach at no cost to you for the duration of the study.  You may also keep the FitBit as a token of appreciation for participating.
