Overview

The purpose of this study is to investigate the underlying neural architecture or cognitive mechanisms in language processing.

Description

The purpose of this study is to understand how people process speech sounds and words and whether their knowledge of orthography would affect their language processing.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    healthy
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 40 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Proficient in English
Right-handed
We will recruit various language groups, for example (but not limited to), Chinese, Korean, English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Japanese, Indian
Exclusion Criteria
Major or minor in Linguistics and/or Second Language Studies and/or have taken any linguistics-related courses that are 200 level and above
For non-native speakers of Chinese, Japanese and Korean, if they have not learned one of these three languages, they will be excluded
For non-native speakers of English: they have stayed in English-speaking countries longer than two years
Have hearing, vision, speech or neurological disorders
Have history of concussions

This study takes place in Bloomington, IN.

Participants will be compensated for their participation.
