Overview

The purpose of this study is to collect a piece of tissue (biopsy) from the outer layer of the kidney as healthy reference tissue for the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP). The biopsy will be from kidney stone patients undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL).

Description

Researchers will take 3 biopsies from the outer portion of the kidney while participants are undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for their kidney stones.
The biopsies will be studied under a microscope, notes taken, and then the biopsies stored in the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP) Central Biorepository for future research.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    percutaneous nephrolithotomy, kidney stones, PCNL
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 100 Years
  • Gender: All

Individuals at least 18 years of age undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy.
Pregnant women will not be eligible.
Individuals receiving treatment for active malignancy, or with a history of transplantation will not be eligible.
