Overview
The purpose of this study is to better understand daily experiences of microaggressions and drug and alcohol use among adolescents in order to help prevent it in the future.
In particular, this study is aimed at understanding if increased experiences of microaggressions are related to increased drug and alcohol use among African American youth and whether racial identity can impact the relationship between microaggressions and drug and alcohol use.
Description
Participants complete 1 over the phone/ video orientation appointment and complete a baseline survey on their phone/ computer, then receive 8 online surveys texted to their phone for 8 days in a row.
Surveys ask about microaggressions, drug & alcohol use, and racial identity. Participating teens can earn up to $49.

· Race: Black/African American
· Age: Between 14 – 18 Years
· Language: English
· Other: Participants must have access to a cell-phone for exclusive personal use with SMS and data capability
