Overview

The proposed project will test whether carbohydrate intake can blunt the rise in central fatigue normally seen during exercise at altitude.

Description

The purpose of this study is to determine if carbohydrate ingestion prior to and during exercise at altitude is an effective means of delaying fatigue.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    healthy
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 35 Years
  • Gender: Male

Inclusion Criteria
Recreationally active, healthy individuals
Exclusion Criteria
Suffer from a disease of the cardiovascular or pulmonary systems
Currently use tobacco or have regularly used it within the previous two years
Regularly use any prescription drugs
Have asthma or any other type of lung/respiratory dysfunction
Unwilling to abstain from alcohol, caffeine, or intense exercise 24 hours prior to testing
