AFRICAN AMERICAN TEENS NEEDED FOR STUDY ON RACISM, STRESS AND HEALTH

Researchers at Indiana University are studying the effects of stress and racial discrimination on the health of Black teens.
 
Your participation will help researchers to better understand what factors may reduce the risk for these health issues.

Description

 
What is Involved?
  • Complete an online survey and provide blood samples at 3 time-points over the course of one year
  • Questions will be about your health behaviors, trauma, experiences with racial discrimination and mood
  • Blood samples will be used to measure inflammation and stress hormones
 
Participants will receive up to $240 for completing all of the study requirements.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    healthy
  • Age: Between 15 Years - 19 Years
  • Gender: All

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Age 15-19 (parental/guardian consent required if under 18 years of age)
  • African American/Black
  • Fluent in English 
  • Use of substances within the past 6 months
  • No chronic health conditions (such as diabetes or high blood pressure)
