Adults Needed for Almonds and Diabetes Risk Study!

Overview
Researchers at Purdue University are looking for adults with high blood sugar levels to take part in a study to understand how adding almonds to your diet has effects on longer-term blood sugar control.
This study will look at a normal compound in your blood called hemoglobin A1c, which is a strong predictor of diabetes risk.
Description
Who is Eligible
· Adult 18-70 years old
· Have high blood sugar level
· Must not have nut allergies
What is Involved
· Participants will complete an in-person screening assessment in order to determine if they qualify for the study.
· Participants who enroll in the study will be randomly assigned to eat one serving of almonds or pretzels with
breakfast and one serving as a replacement of a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack.
· A total of 13 visits (11 less than 30 minutes, 2 about 3.5 hours) on Purdue University West Lafayette campus over
16 weeks.
· Visits will include measurement of body weight and composition, review of diet records, blood draws and placement of a
continuous glucose monitor.
Compensation
Participants will receive up to $600) for completing all of the study requirements
