Overview

The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of how present and future healthcare providers make decisions about pain management.

Description

The purpose of this study is to examine 1) the effects of patient gender and race on health trainees' pain assessment and treatment decisions for children with chronic pain and 20 the extent to which health trainees' implicit gender and racial attitudes affect the relationship between patient gender, patient race, and pain management decisions.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    healthy
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 100 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Current student in a medical, nursing, physical therapy, dental, or physician assistant degree program
Exclusion Criteria
Participation in a previous study using virtual-human technology to investigate decision-making for pain or inability to access a computer where they have authorized download access, such as a home computer
