Pilot Study of Mind-Body Skills Groups for Adolescents with Depression in Primary Care

Study Overview

We would like to learn about how a mind-body-skills group may help adolescents who have depression.

Study Description

We are proposing a pilot trial to evaluate the impact of mind-body groups who screen positive for depression in primary care. The primary aims of the study are to establish feasibility of the methods in a primary care setting, garner preliminary evidence for effectiveness of the intervention in addressing depression and to examine other factors (e.g., self-efficacy, mindfulness, and rumination) which are likely related to improvement in depression symptoms. Following this project, we will be well-poised for a successful federally-funded proposal (e.g., NIH or AHRQ) for a more rigourous trial.
