Pain appraisals of adults with Low Back Pain: a web-based study

Overview

The purpose of this online study is to gain a better understanding of how healthcare trainees and providers make decisions for patients with pain.

Description

The current study will employ videos of actual pain patients and assess the appraisals of laypersons and health care trainees. The aims of this investigation are to: 1) examine laypersons' and trainees' appraisals of pain patients performing daily physical tasks, 2) examine the impact of participants' characteristics and patients' characteristics on participants' pain appraisals.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    low back pain,1709188994
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 100 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
College students: eligible participants will be undergraduate students enrolled at an IUPUI class that has SONA access
Healthcare trainee (medical student, medical resident, medical fellow, nursing student (undergraduate or graduate), occupational and physical therapy students
Have access to a computer with authorized download access
Have not previously participated in a study involving computer-simulated patients and pain decision-making
Exclusion Criteria
Previous participation in a study using patient videos and text vignettes to examine pain-related judgements
