Overview
The purpose of this study is to study a new treatment for insight and overall functioning in individuals with severe mental illness.
Description
The purpose of this study is to use a new intervention, Metacognitive Reflection and Insight Therapy (MERIT), that is designed to improve insight, or lack of illness awareness, and ultimately overall functioning in individuals with severe mental illness.
Eligibility
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Conditions:
Schizophrenia,Schizoaffective disorder,Schizophreniform disorder,bipolar disorder,major depression with psychotic features,severe mental illness

Age: Between 18 Years - 65 Years

Gender: All
Inclusion Criteria
Have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizophreniform disorder, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, or major depression with psychotic features
Have no current alcohol or drug dependence
No significant neurological illness or trauma
Exclusion Criteria
History of significant neurological illness or head trauma
Current alcohol or drug dependence (excluding nicotine or caffeine)
Participants will be paid for their participation.
