Overview

The purpose of this study is to investigate how people speak and how they perceive the speech of other people.

Description

This study seeks to explore how people in Indiana perceptually categorize the speech of people from different dialect regions of Indiana.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    healthy
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 100 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Be native speakers of English

Be residents of the target region in Indiana since childhood
 
Must be a student at one of the following IU schools:

IU Northwest, Gary, IN
IUPFW, Fort Wayne, IN
IUPUI, Indianapolis, IN
IUSE, New Albany, IN

Exclusion Criteria
Participants must not have a history of speech or hearing problems

Participants will be compensated for their participation.
