Overview

The goal of this study is to understand what information patients with dementia need to help with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL), in particular, how they currently manage and perform tasks related to food and eating. The findings from this study will aid on the design of new technologies that could help people with dementia and caregivers on their food and eating habits.

Description

The goal of this pilot study is to collect data about information needs related to food practices with patients with dementia that can support/complete the model built on current literature and provide basis to the design of a PID intervention.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    dementia
  • Age: Between 40 Years - 100 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Diagnosed with dementia
Living alone or with a caregiver in the community in the Indianapolis metropolitan area (approximately 20miles)
Have a primary caregiver that is also willing to participate
Exclusion Criteria
Non-English speaking
Unable to understand and communicate verbally due to cognitive or physical condition
