Overview

The purpose of this study is to look at cells and proteins in blood that are activated and may cause formation of aortic aneurysms.

Description

The purpose of this study is to collect peripheral blood (PB) samples from patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and rheumatoid arthritis and healthy aged matched subject.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    abdominal aortic aneurysm
  • Age: Between 50 Years - 100 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Healthy without AAA, peripheral artery disease, or coronary artery disease
Diagnosed with AAA
Have rheumatoid arthritis
Undergoing open AAA repair without neoplasm or recent acute infection
Exclusion Criteria
Inflammatory or mycotic AAA
Current malignancy
Active infections
Angina
Diabetes mellitus
Systemic autoimmune or inflammatory condtions
Conjestive heart failure
Organ transplant recipients or taking immunosuppressive medications
History of Heaptitis B, C or HIV infection
Any surgery within the past 3 months
