Overview

The purpose of this study is to determine whether deep massage, specifically instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, stimulates the release of cells and bio-markers into the bloodstream that are known to positively influence healing.

Description

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the acute and cumulative effects of IASTM on the mobilization of circulating progenitor cells and concentration levels of inflammatory and anti-inflammatory mediators in healthy young adult males.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Chronic low back pain,Healthy
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 30 Years
  • Gender: Male

Inclusion Criteria
Body Mass Index (BMI) >/= 18.5 KG/m2 but
Exclusion Criteria
Known cardiovascular, pulmonary, or metabolic disease
Current smoking or those who quit smoking within the previous 6 months
Current use of anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-hypertensive or anti-lipemic medications
Regular participation in aerobic activity
Any history of back or neck surgery or injury; or back or neck pain within the previous 6 months that impaired function
Any co-morbidities that could contribute to back or neck pain
