Overview

The purpose of this study is to see how much brain activity changes over a short period of time (i.e., within a week, and within two months) in people with dementia using MRI scanning.

Description

The purpose of this study is to investigate the test-retest reliability of fMRI word retrieval paradigms in individuals with dementia and age- education-matched normal controls.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    dementia
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 100 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
All participants must be right-handed and native speakers of English
Participants with any type of cortical dementia including Alzheimer?s dementia or primary progressive aphasia (PPA) from mild to moderate severity will be recruited
Exclusion Criteria
If the participant has a history of epilepsy, mental disorders, or any metal implants that have not been MR safety approved by a doctor, they will be excluded from the study
Also participants will be excluded if they have a severe hearing or vision deficit that precludes completing testing tasks
