Overview

The purpose of this study is to develop and implement a program that can be used by doctors and community groups to help prevent type 2 diabetes in youth.

Description

The purpose of this study is to develop a modified version of the ENCOURAGE Healthy Families curriculum to be used for the prevention of type 2 diabetes.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    type 2 diabetes
  • Age: Between 10 Years - 17 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Children who are overweight/obese with BMI >85th percentile
Children with one of the following: family history of type 2 diabetes, belong to a racial/ethnic minority
Exclusion Criteria
pregnancy
