Sympathetic Nerve Activity in Amyloid Polyneuropathy

Overview

The purpose of this study is use skin nerve activity to compare the response of the nervous system to stress within the nerves of the skin that may not be noticed in patients with transthyretin amyloidosis versus volunteers without amyloidosis.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Amyloid Polyneuropathy, transthyretin amyloidosis
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 90 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
History of amyloidosis
Age and gender matched healthy control
Exclusion Criteria
History of type 1 or type 2 diabetes and neuropathy
Patients who are pacemaker dependent
Women who are know to be pregnant
People with a history of allergy to ECG electrodes, adhesive tape, nylon or latex
History of AMyloidosis
