Overview
Researchers at Indiana University School of Medicine are conducting a study seeking to measure spiritual distress in patients about to undergo elective surgery.
THIS STUDY IS ENROLLING BY INVITATION ONLY - This study is currently enrolling IU Health and Eskenazi patients who are about to undergo elective surgery that requires overnight admission.
It is our hope that the information gathered through this research project will help to optimize spiritual health and in turn, maximize compassionate, excellent and purpose-driven care for patients now and in the future.
Description
What happens during study participation
- Complete one online survey (5-15 min) and a Zoom interview (45 min-1 hr)
Incentive/compensation
- Incentives will be provided for completing both the surveys and interviews.

Eligibility
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Conditions:
healthy volunteer

Age: Between 18 Years - 100 Years

Gender: All
Inclusion Criteria:
- Must be within 4 weeks of scheduled elective surgery that requires overnight admission (e.g. (ventral hernia repair, bariatric surgery, carotid endarterectomies, partial colectomies, joint replacements)
- Must be English-speaking
