Overview

We propose a study that incorporates mind-body skills with diabetes education specifically designed for adolescents with T1D.  To our knowledge, this is the first of such a study in adolescents with T1D.

Description

Adapt a mind-body skills intervention for integration in diabetes education sessions for use with adolescent youth with type 1 diabetes

Pilot test the feasibility and acceptability of the type 1 diabetes mind-body skills intervention in the target population

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Type 1 Diabetes
  • Age: Between 15 Years - 17 Years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria:
  • ·        Age 15-17 years
    ·        Diagnosis of type 1 diabetes for at least 6 months
    ·        A parent or guardian who agrees to participate
Exclusion Criteria:
  • ·        Diagnosed cognitive disabilities
    ·        Other uncontrolled chronic diseases.  Participants may have well-controlled conditions such as treated thyroid disease, asthma, etc. but these conditions must be well-controlled as assessed by the PI.
    ·        Inability to attend visits due to individual schedules
