Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Perinatal Women

Overview
We want to help improve women’s mental health and mood during her pregnancy and learn about what might affect it (such as how much stress she feels or her medical history). This is important for us to understand because a woman’s mental health during pregnancy may affect her future health and the health of her baby.
Description
Participants will be asked to complete questionnaires before treatment begins. Participants will be asked to complete questionnaires before and after each group treatment session. There will be four, hour-long, virtual group therapy sessions.
Eligibility
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder

Age: Between 18 Years - 64 Years

Gender: Female
Inclusion Criteria:
- Women that are pregnant or within 24 months of delivery, or women who were previously enrolled in perinatal studies and are mothers currently, have endorsed PTSD symptoms, and have expressed interest in clinical research.
- Women fluent in English and able to comprehend and complete Informed Consent process, study questionnaires, and study procedures.
- A diagnosis of PTSD or subthreshold PTSD symptoms on the PCL-5. Subthreshold PTSD requires a Criterion A trauma exposure and at least one symptom in all other clusters.
- Women that have previously been pregnant and have lifetime PTSD symptoms.
- Participants must have access to a device with internet access and webcam capability. Exclusion Criteria:
- Women who are not fluent in English enough to understand and complete the Informed Consent and study procedures and questionnaires.
- Participants who do not have access to a device with internet access and webcam capability.
- Current psychosis or manic symptoms.
- Serious cognitive impairment.
- Concurrent trauma-focused psychotherapy.
- High risk for suicide.
